Look at all this yummy Bernat Blanket yarn!
Bernat blanket yarn has taken over my studio for the Bernat Blanket Stitch Along hosted by Joann Fabrics and Crafts. October is “afghan month” at B.hooked Crochet and I’ll be participating and sharing my progress with this mystery afghan every week!
Bernat Blanket yarn is one of my favorite yarns for afghans. The wavelength afghan using Bernat Blanket is a huge hit at my house and is used all the time. I can’t wait to hook up another afghan with it!
What is a Stitch Along?
A stitch along is a coordinated crochet and/or knit project organized by designers, blogs or brands that bring us together to work on the same project. Sometimes we know what the final project will look like and sometimes we don’t.
The Bernat Blanket Stitch Along is a “mystery” so we won’t know what our afghan will look like until the very end. How exciting!
A stitch along allows yarn lovers from all over the world to come together and be a part of something fun and exciting. Everyone has their own unique style and palette. Even though we are working on the same pattern, we all have the opportunity to incorporate our own personality into the project. It’s simply amazing to see how the pattern “transforms” as the stitch along progresses.
Celebrate Afghan Month With me!
I encourage you to participate in the Bernat Blanket Stitch Along with me!
Over the last few months, I have dedicated a theme to each month to help you stay more focused on your goals and learn the techniques at a comfortable pace. October 2016 is Afghan Month at B.hooked Crochet and I have teamed up with Joann’s to participate in this event. I couldn’t be more excited!
It will be an excellent experience for you, especially if you’ve never participated in a stitch along before.
Here’s what you need to know about the stitch along…
- It’s completely free (except yarn costs).
- No sign up required.
- The Stitch Along begins on Monday, October 3 2016. On this day your first set of clues will be released.
- A new section of the pattern is released every Monday through October 24, 2016.
- Michael Sellick from The Crochet Crowd will be providing you with video tutorials.
- There is also a knitting pattern if you prefer to knit.
If you’re thinking about participating, have a look at the official page for the Bernat Blanket Stitch Along at Joann’s website.
On this page (at the above link) you will find the details of the stitch along as well as a video from Mikey. He tells us how many skeins of yarn we need to buy in preparation for the stitch along and he gives us a really big hint about the design, so you definitely want to check it out.
You’ll want to bookmark this link too so you can go back to it every Monday for the next clue.
The official hashtag for the Bernat Blanket Stitch Along is #handmadewithjoann. Share your photos, thoughts and excitement where ever you hang out online. I personally love to use Facebook and Instagram so I’ll be sharing my photos there!
Speaking of Facebook, there is a Facebook event for this stitch along and I highly recommend you check it out. This is the best place to go to ask questions if you find yourself stumped at any point in the stitch along. It’s also a great place to share your progress photos and interact with others who are participating!
Be sure to like the page and post away!
Now that we have all the details out in the open, I’d like to share with you my color scheme. I received the yarn in the mail and I’m just so excited about it!
I decided to go with four colors that complement my living room. Here’s what I came up with:
- Pale grey
- Lilac leaf
- Vintage white
- Country blue
I can’t wait to see how lilac leaf incorporates into the design since it will yield a “mosaic” sort of appearance when crocheted.
Joann’s has some exclusive Bernat Blanket colors so be sure to check them out in store or online to perfect your color palette!
What Should You Do Now?
- Decide to participate in the stitch along.
- Head over to the Stitch Along Page to see the details and watch Mikey’s video.
- Like the Bernat Blanket Stitch Along Facebook event page.
- Choose your color palette.
- Buy 7 balls of Bernat Blanket.
