I started my Valentine’s Day crochet designs with this little sweet heart and it inspired me to create 4 more Valentine’s Day patterns!

This pattern and video tutorial is easy enough for a beginner to follow. It’s actually a great first project because they are so quick and easy to make.

This pattern is written in US crochet terms
Gather your supplies
- Approximately 1/2 yard per heart, Worsted Weight (I Love This Cotton shown)
- 5 mm crochet hook
- Darning needle
Gauge and Sizing
The finished heart should measure 2.5″ x 2.5″ when using worsted weight yarn and a 5 mm hook. You can adjust the sizing by choosing bulkier yarn/larger hook or lighter yarn/smaller hook.
- Ch – Chain
- Dc – Double Crochet
- Slst – Slip Stitch
You will only need to know the double crochet, chain and slip stitch to complete this crochet heart. The heart is worked in the round using two rounds. Beginner’s will find the video tutorial very useful if experiencing problems following the written instructions.

Round 1: Ch 4. Dc into the first chain 11 times. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain. (12 stitches)
Round 2: (Do not chain any stitches) Dc 7 times into the third stitch from the hook. Dc once in the next 3 stitches. In the next stitch, Dc, Ch 2, Dc. Dc in the next 3 stitches. Dc 7 times into the next stitch. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain from the previous round.
